NOTES:
KITT, the infamous black indestructable supercar from the hit '80's show Knight Rider, has now been
brought to Midtown for your cruising pleasure. The model itself is that of a mid-1980's Pontiac
Firebird Trans Am, with several modifications.
This is my third fully scratch-made car for MM1, and my first to be released under the BOX Designs flag.
The model shows more advanced detailing over my previous work in such forms as door and bonnet linings,
recessed light panels, modelled front nose and completely modelled windows.

The general colour of the car is black, as you can see, but since the game's rendering engine is not
generally good at distinguishing dark areas then there was some additional texture work required.
Together with the reflections, the detail of the model is shown more. Note that as KITT was
indestructable in the TV series, likewise applies here - it is not possible to damage the car, and
as such there are no damage textures to see either.

You might wonder why the scanner is not moving as it should - this is not my fault, the game is not
capable of rendering animated textures and so I had to portray the scanner using a still image. I
tried my best to imitate the glow and the light reflecting off the walls, so at least it's there :)

KITT was reputedly capable of 0-60 in under 3 seconds and had a top speed of well over 300mph. If I
was to represent that in the game, the car would be totally uncompetitive together with its infinite
durability. Top speed is approximately 170mph I think? which is more than enough. You rarely reach it
anyway.

The detailed dashboard required an extra texture to get it looking as detailed as I wanted it, and
you should like it. It's got plenty of kitt, pun intended ;) Also, I could not get the meters
working as I wanted on the dash, although I came close, so the usual needles are present.

The selection screen greets you with the Knight Rider theme tune, which I think fits well. The engine
sound sounds about ok, and enjoy the horn :)
The rotating camera angle in reverse mode, and the reverse-180 ability, both feature as standard now.
Take a look at the tuned BOX-cam, giving the more cinematic-type angle for that added entertainment ;)

Physics realism should be set at about 90%. The handling of this car is different, it takes a bit of
getting used to for some reason.
The front wheels dip very low while the car jumps - this is because of the car model, and was necessary
because of the way the car's handling was tuned.
There is a slight loop in the engine sound while at top speed, but it is not very prominent.
The front and rear lights of the car have to be placed just outside of the transparent panels,
otherwise they wouldn't show up in game.

material from the hard work of those people.
- Freddie Hedenskog: provided the KITT engine sound that I was able to edit for the better.
- Ironchair: providing the scanner sound, it rocks :) Just try the horn and you'll see.
- The Midtown Madness community - the comments, suggestions and encouragement I get from you
is brilliant, and gives me a genuine purpose for making these cars.
